Chanmyay Sayadawgyi Ashin Janaka Bhivamsa of Myanmar conducted the opening ceremony of Chanmyay Yeiktha, Hope, BC, Canada. Two monks from Laos Buddhist Temple and two monks from Cambodian Buddhist Temple joined Sayadawgyi for the opening ceremony.

12 yogis registered and completed the annual retreat. The retreat was held at the Lao Canadian Buddhist Temple in Aldergrove, BC. We are grateful towards Venerable Sayadaw U Nandasiddhi for conducting the retreat. Thank you to Ajahn Santi and all resident monks as well as the Lao Canadian Buddhist Temple Society for making our annual retreat possible. SMSC would like to give a special thank you to all who donated their time and effort to donating food and services throughout the retreat. In regards to daily volunteering, we thank Tommy, Jennifer and Sayalay Pannacari- without your help, this retreat would not have been possible.
A Burmese lunch was donated to all who attended. The lunch was followed by a Dhamma Talk with emphasis on cultivating five powers. Thank you for all who donated time and food towards the day.

A three-day residential retreat was conducted by Sayar Myat on April 6-8, 2012 at the Han Seok Buddhist Foundation in Surrey, BC. Eighteen yogis attended the retreat and seven completed it. SMSC would like to express appreciation of the Han Seok Foundation for allowing us to use their facilities, and to Moon Young Shin for making this retreat possible. Also, our thanks go to Jooran and Andreas, Myo Min Tun and family, and Win Nyunt & Khin Mar Lay, for donating food for lunch, with special gratitude to Tommy Man for his persistent help with coordinating meals and taking care of other necessities.

A three-day non-residential retreat was conducted by Sayar Myat from July 1 to 3, 2011 at SMSC Center, West Vancouver, BC. Thirteen yogis attended the retreat. Myo Min Tun and Moe Moe donated food for the retreat.
A four-day retreat was conducted by Sayar Myat from April 22 to 25, 2011 at Laotian Buddhist Monastery in Aldergrove, BC. Seventeen yogis attended the retreat. Tommy Man, Annie Hsiung, Kyu Kyu, Win Nyunt, Khin Mar Lay, Myo Min Tun, Moe Moe, Sayar Myat and Becky Brechin donated food for the retreat.

The SMSC facilated its third annual retreat at Chanmyay Satipatthana Vihara in Springfield, Illinois, USA. Chanmyay Sayadawgyi Ashin Janakabhivamasa of Myanmar spent his rain retreat at the vihara and conducted Satipatthana-Vipassana retreat. Nine yogis attended from SMSC, five for 10 to 14 days and four for 64 days. The SMSC wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the Board of Directors of the Satipatthana Vipassana Association of Springfield for making this event a reality so that many could benefit from Buddha-Dhamma.
The SMSC conducted a Buddhist education course special program on "The Wheel of Life" at the Laotian Monastery in Aldergrove, British Columbia, on July 31 and August 1, 2010. Our teacher, Sa-yar Myat, led the program attended by 14 yogis. We would like to express our appreciation to Bhante Santi, abbot of the Laotian monastery and its Board of Directors for graciously permitting us to use the facilities at their Monastery for two days.
The SMSC conducted a 1-day retreat in West Vancouver on May 2nd. Our teacher, Sa-yar Myat, led the retreat attended by 6 yogis. We would like to express our appreciation to Becky Brechin for graciously allowing the Society to use her residence as a venue for the retreat.
The SMSC conducted a 2-day residential retreat in Lao-Canadian Buddhist Temple in Aldergrove, BC, on March 20-21, 2010. Our teacher, Sa-yar Myat, led the retreat attended by 7 yogis. We would like to express our gratitude to Bhante Buddhathon, the Lao-Canadian Buddhist Temple Society of Canada and five Myanmar-Canadian families for their hospitality and generosity that made our retreat possible.
The SMSC conducted a three day residential retreat in West Vancouver from January 1 to 3, 2010. Our teacher, Sa-yar Myat, led the retreat attended by five yogis. We would like to express our appreciation to Becky Brechin for graciously allowing the Society to use her residence as a venue for the retreat.
The SMSC conducted a three day residential retreat in Port Moody from October 10 to 12, 2009. Our teacher, Sa-yar Myat, led the retreat attended by 10 yogis. We would like to express our appreciation to Kim Yeung for graciously allowing the Society to use her residence as a venue for the retreat.
The SMSC conducted its Second Annual Residential Retreat at the Laotian Monastery in Aldergrove, British Columbia, in early August 2009. Bhante Santi, abbot of the Laotian Monastery, and its Board of Directors graciously permitted us to use the facilities at their Monastery for eight days. Although the Monastery was currently undergoing a construction project, all activities were halted during the retreat so as to avoid any disrupting noise. In addition, a number of members of the Laotian community generously assisted with the provision of some of the food for the monks and practicing yogis during the retreat.
